There comes a time in life when we are forced to pause, reflect, and confront our deepest struggles. For me, that time was during the pandemic—a moment when the world stood still, but my transformation began.
For years, I hid behind weaves, chemical relaxers, and layers of makeup, masking my insecurities instead of addressing them. I struggled with hair breakage, dandruff, and skin blemishes from years of using products filled with harsh chemicals. I thought I was taking care of myself, but in reality, I was trapped in a cycle of temporary fixes that never truly healed the root of my problems.
Then, everything changed.
Breaking Free from Toxic Beauty Standards
As I spent more time in online communities, I discovered that I wasn’t alone. So many women were experiencing the same frustrations—dry, brittle hair, chemical burns from relaxers, and recurring skin issues that never seemed to go away. The more I learned, the more I realized that the products I trusted were doing more harm than good.
Many of the shampoos, lotions, and creams I had been using were filled with parabens, sulfates, and phthalates—chemicals linked to hormonal imbalances, skin irritation, and even long-term health issues. I was unknowingly poisoning my body. But as I uncovered the truth, I felt a shift inside me. I refused to let my health continue to suffer.
I took control. I began researching clean, plant-based ingredients and experimenting with handcrafted hair oils and butters.
From a Personal Struggle to a Purpose-Driven Business
At first, I made these products just for me—to heal my scalp, strengthen my natural hair, and clear my skin. But as I started seeing real, lasting results, I knew I couldn’t keep this knowledge to myself.
I started selling my handcrafted creations at local farmers markets, where I connected with incredible people who shared my struggles. I listened to their stories, learned about their hair and skin concerns, and offered them something better—products made with love, intention, and natural ingredients that actually worked.
The results spoke for themselves. My hair became healthier, stronger, and easier to manage. My skin began to heal. And soon, my customers were experiencing the same transformations.
Then, something unexpected happened. People began asking me to create skincare products to help with eczema, acne scars, and blemishes—issues I had also battled. I took on the challenge, formulating new products with the same dedication to clean, nourishing ingredients.
The Birth of Posh Handcrafted
What started as a personal healing journey had evolved into something much bigger than I ever imagined. My business was no longer just about hair—it was about total wellness, inside and out. That’s when I knew it was time for a transformation. Hair Culture was no longer just a brand; it was a movement. And so, Posh Handcrafted was born.
But the most profound realization came later.
A Higher Purpose: Faith, Healing, and Natural Beauty
Looking back, I see that I was never alone in this journey. At the time, I didn’t fully understand it, but now I know: God was guiding me every step of the way.
Unknowingly, I had been creating products that aligned with my body’s needs—free of the toxins that had contributed to my hormonal imbalances and fibroids. My journey into clean beauty was not just about looking good; it was about healing. It was about returning to nature, to the way we were meant to care for ourselves.
Faith led me here. And now, Posh Handcrafted is more than just a beauty brand—it’s a reflection of my journey, my purpose, and my commitment to helping others heal, just as I have.
